| Switzerland 2003 |
Although nothing of a spectacular fashion happened in Switzerland, we are happy to report that go has made steady advances. We held our first junior championship, which ended in a three-way tie for first place. A further round of lightning play did nothing to change the situation, so we are now blessed with no fewer than three junior champions for the year. Our representative at the WAGC, Adrian Zweig, performed creditably, picking up four points, which is better than expected for Switzerland. This year's representative is our champion, Sebastian Koch, who has his eyes set on bettering last year's result. We were represented for the first time in the International Amateur Pair Go Championship by Ursula Dumermuth and Lorenz Trippel, who won two games -- probably one above expectations. The only negative occurrence during the year was the demise of the faltering Basle Go Club, which never really managed to take off, but this was compensated for by the founding of a new club in Winterthur.
