Transatlantic Professional Go Team Championship: Starting Soon
This year’s Transatlantic Professional Go Team Championship is the first official Go match between the American and the European professional players. The winning team’s prize is 10,000 euro.
Each team consists of five players, and the competition system is very similar to a well-known Asian professional tournament called Nongshim Cup. Each round, one player from the European team plays against one player from the American team. The winner keeps playing in the next round, while the loser is eliminated. After the last player of a team is eliminated, the other team becomes the winner.
The list of the players, schedule, and all the other information you can find at the official web page of the tournament. All the games are played on the KGS Go Server, with a live broadcast also on Twitch and YouTube.
The two players to meet in the first round are already announced at the tournament facebook page: Mateusz Surma 2p (Poland) and Andy Liu 1p (USA). They are going to play on April 7 at 20:00 Central European Time (14:00 US EDT). Don’t miss out!
