The 9th European Professional Championship was held in Bucharest on 5–8 March and brought together eight participants who battled in a round-robin. Andrii Kravets 3p repeated his last year’s success and claimed the Championship. Andrii remained undefeated in all seven rounds. Mateusz Surma 4p lost only to Andrii and was the runner-up. Third came Benjamin Drean-Guenaizia 1p, who lost only to Andrii and Mateusz.
In parallel with the Professional Championship, an open tournament was held at the same venue: the Polytrade Grand Prix. The winner was Dragos Bajenaru 6d.
