Lukáš Podpěra 7d Defends Go Baron Title
The Go Baron is a Czech title played out in a similar mode to Asian titles: the player who wins the preliminary stage challenges the title holder in a best-of-five match. This event also has unique prizes: the winner of the title match takes home two ounces of gold while the loser gets one.
This year Lukáš Podpěra 7d defended his Go Baron title in a match against Jan Šimara 1p – Lukáš won the fifth game on 10 December by 12.5 points, thus winning the title match with a score of 3-2. You can see the record of that game below.
It’s worth noting that in March Lukáš and Jan played another match – the final of the Professional Qualification Tournament in Brno. That time Jan won with a score of 2-1.
