The IGF Anti-Doping Program
Promoting Fairness, Responsibility, and Respect in Go
The International Go Federation (IGF) is committed to promoting clean sport and protecting the integrity of competition. As a Signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code, IGF fully supports the fight against doping in sport and adheres to all relevant international standards set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Although Go is a mind sport, anti-doping policies are no less important. Substances that influence focus, stress response, or cognitive endurance may provide unfair advantages, thereby undermining fair play and compromising athlete health. Anti-doping rules help ensure that all athletes compete on equal terms, based on skill, preparation, and strategy.
The IGF anti-doping program aims to:
- Uphold the values of fairness, honesty, and respect in the sport of Go;
- Educate athletes and support personnel on their rights and responsibilities;
- Implement in-competition testing in line with international best practices;
- Maintain transparency through clear results management procedures.
IGF works in close cooperation with WADA and other partner organisations to ensure full Code compliance and to support the broader mission of clean sport.
IGF’s Commitment to WADA Standards
IGF is recognised as an official Code Signatory and adheres to the anti-doping framework established by WADA. This includes the World Anti-Doping Code, the annual Prohibited List, and the full set of International Standards.
